Flint Contra Dancers

While we are not having our regular dances this season, here's an opportunity to enjoy Flint's own Homegrown Contra Band. They'll be playing at the Flint Farmer's Market Saturday, Dec. 1st, 11-1 p.m. Santa will be at the Market, too, 11-2 p.m. in the atrium. Seasons Greetings from Flint to you and yours!

Homegrown Contraband is playing and Sue Hendrix is calling this Saturday (10/13) from 1:30-2:30 pm in Davison as part of their Pumpkin Festival. We will be focusing on families with small children so expect a couple of circle dances and a Virginia Reel type “down the middle” dance. Any contra dancers in the area feel free to stop by to help or at least say hi. We’ll be on Main Street in front of the United Methodist Church near the corner of east Third Street.

Less than 2 weeks until our Spring Contra Prom! We would love to have a full house to welcome Spring with this festive dance, called by the wonderful Darlene Underwood to the rousing music of Changeling! CANCELLED: The Flint Contra dance scheduled for this afternoon (Sunday 02/04/2018) is cancelled due to the weather. Our apologies, we hope you'll join us for our March dance featuring Peter Baker with Nutshell on Sunday March 4th, 1:30-5 at the Brennan Center in Flint.

We are dancing in Flint next Sunday, February 4 with Ed Vincent calling to the music of Scarlet Runner String Band. The fun will start at 1:30 with a new dancer workshop followed by the dance from 2-5 pm at Brennan Community Center (1301 Pingree Ave. Flint, MI 48503). Adults $10; students $7 with $3 off for first time dancers.

Contra Dance in FLINT this coming SUNDAY NOVEMBER 5th, 2-5 p.m. (beginner lesson at 1:30). Drake Meadow and the Stout Hearted String Band (great caller and great band!) will be there and we hope you will too! Location: Brennan Center, 1301 Pingree, Flint 48503. Finger food snacks to share always welcomed. Reminder, this is also the first day of the return to Eastern Standard Time ("fall back" by one hour).
