In the office today working on some content writing and thought I would toss up another Michigan Walleye Tour memory pic!

This is my brother Kirk Valentine and I at the 3-day 1999 Championship at Hubbard Lake. In only our second-year walleye fishing we ended up third by less than a pound and had big fish of the tournament. Most teams were pulling spinners on edges and drops, but we were trolling Deep Jr. Thunderstix over 80' of water catching suspended fish 30-45' down running 50/50 with snap weights of 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 oz. We were catching 20-25 fish a day and just did not get a big bite on Day 3......a great experience that year as we really started to learn how to walleye fish thanks to a lot of hard work and some help from a lot of the gang on Tour.......

Our good friends Billy St. Peter and Steve Bohn won the event that year with a fish caught in literally the last 2 minutes of the day!

Well, found a stash of old pix from my Michigan Walleye Tour days so thought I would share them over the next little bit....did you know that I once held the record for the biggest walleye caught in an MWT event?? This 12.73 lb. walleye was caught just south of Middle Island in Lake Erie on May 19, 2001, and held the record for over 20 years, until just a few seasons ago. An amazing day!!

Yes, I miss the morning takeoff, and mostly I miss the 4-8 days spent with friends fishing and trying to figure out a pattern and bringing in a big basket.

No, I don't miss fishing in the rain, tough bites, early mornings, missing checks, travel and crappy food and little sleep!

Found this beauty of a pic from the Michigan Walleye Tour event on Houghton Lake in 1999 with my partner and brother Kirk Valentine and our travel partners Mark Sak and John Clark! Great Memories!
