Following a truck fire that released approximately 100 gallons of fuel, our crew responded to address impacts to the parking lot, nearby soil, and storm-drain system. We contained the affected area, recovered pooled fuel and contaminated water with our vacuum truck, protected the storm drains, and removed fire debris and impacted soil for proper disposal.

Incidents like this require careful attention to every pathway contamination could follow. Fast containment and thorough cleanup help prevent a manageable spill from becoming a much larger environmental issue.

Cleanup is only one part of a successful spill response.

After containing a recent fuel release, our crews removed impacted material, cleaned and restored the affected area, and placed absorbent boom throughout the stormwater system and nearby creek.

We continued returning after periods of rainfall to inspect drainage structures, monitor the waterway and adjust controls as needed. The remaining boom was removed only after our team confirmed clean conditions with no visible sheen or odors.

From the initial response through final monitoring, Michigan Spill Response follows the full path of a release to help protect the surrounding environment.

A hydraulic fluid release required containment, recovery, and follow-up monitoring.

Our crew recovered hydraulic fluid with a vacuum truck, then placed absorbent boom in three manholes and at the outflow to capture remaining product.

Over the following days, our team returned to inspect and replace the boom until the affected manholes were confirmed clean.

Initial response through final cleanup, we stay with the job until it’s done.
