We are hiring Lead Teachers
Position: Lead Childcare Teacher
Location: Flint, Michigan
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Childcare Teacher to join Elihu's Childcare & Learning Center in Flint, Michigan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing age-appropriate curricula, supervising classroom activities, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: Design and execute lesson plans that align with educational standards and cater to the developmental needs of children.
Classroom Management: Maintain a structured and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning and growth.
Supervision: Oversee assistant teachers and volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality childcare.
Parent Communication: Regularly update parents on their child's progress and address any concerns promptly.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with state and local regulations, maintaining a safe environment for all children.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a childcare setting.
Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Ability to successfully clear a background check.

Lead teacher candidate should have a Bachelor or Associate Degree in early childhood education, child development or child-related field; or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with a minimum of 480 hours of child care experience; or a combination of 6-12 semester hours in early childhood education, child development or child-related field and 960-3840 hours of child care experience.
DHS clearance, background check,
CPR/1st Aid and TB testing required.
Hourly wage depends on educational credentials.
As a Preschool Lead Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
•Be the primary caregiver for up to four children in the classroom
•Engage children in activities and play that stimulate their development
•Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
•Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren)
•Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, diapering, hand washing)
•Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service
•Supervise teacher aides in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations
•Train any teacher aides in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day
•Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children
•Conduct child assessments and facilitate parent-teacher conferences
•Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends
•Prepare monthly parent newsletters and weekly lesson plans according to policy
•Be responsible for daily sheets and the daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, and diaper changing.
•Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times
Qualifications:
Education: Must possess a CDA certification or be willing to obtain CDA certification.
Experience: At least two years of experience working with preschool students is preferred but not required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Compensation dependent on experience from $16.00 (+) /hour
