I will never forget standing in front of my students and being told that we were under attack and that I should "just keep teaching". 25 years later, I am teaching a group of students that wasn't even alive for this tragic event, but that I hope can understand what our country went through. Here is some of their artwork created last week in honor of 9/11.

Our first College Tuesday of the year! Thank you to Maine College of Art and Design for coming down today to speak with our students. It's a great, small art school. Polytech has alumni from our Commercial Arts, Animation, and Graphic Design programs who have or are attending MECA&D.

What a joy to be painting alongside my alumni...we are working on a mural depicting scenes of historic Flemington at Main Street Pizza and Tacos. Layla Maravetz (3D Computer Animation alumni) designed the mural and Riley Dosch (Commercial Arts alumni) helped to paint it along with Julia Maravetz and myself. Come check it out...Phase 1 should be completed soon!

I had a great time watching Sail4th 250: the largest-ever flotilla of tall ships from around the world. It was amazing to see the different designs and hear the history of these ships. I loved seeing the planes flyover as well. Happy 4th of July to all my students, their families, and our Polytech community!

Congratulations to Tobias Baldinger! He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Maryland Institute College of Art with a Bachelors in Fine Arts majoring in Animation. Tobias was a speaker at his commencement ceremony, serves on our Advisory Committee, and held a Blender workshop for our students. Congratulations to Commercial Arts alumna Meg Conroy who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising from Virginia Commonwealth University. While there she traveled to New York City with her Line Development class to present her capstone project. Her team received the Critic's Choice Award. Next, she will be studying in Spain and France pursuing her MBA at the American College of the Mediterranean on a full-tuition scholarship. Congratulations, Meg! I am so proud of you.
