Boys in grades 6-8 who are interested in some open fields for baseball should plan to come to the MS Baseball field located at the Fleming County Rec Park on Fridays from 4:00-6:00.

Friday, August 28th will be the first open fields.

Volume 9, Week 1 of the Cougar Connection is here! 🐾

School officially begins Tuesday, August 25, and we cannot wait to welcome our Cougars to Simons Middle School!

The school day begins at 7:40 AM and ends at 2:55 PM. Doors open at 7:05 AM, and students may eat breakfast upon arrival. Please make sure students arrive with enough time to get settled and be ready to learn when the school day begins.

A copy of each student’s schedule will be waiting in their homeroom classroom on Tuesday.

All students receive breakfast and lunch at no cost this school year.

🐾 WHAT HAPPENS AT SMS ORIENTATION?🐾

Orientation is coming up on Tuesday, August 18, and we know some students are excited…and some are probably already a little nervous. 😊

So, what actually happens when you get here?

Students will be able to:

📄 Pick up their class schedule
🏫 Walk through the building and find their classrooms
👋 Meet teachers and staff
❓ Ask questions before the first day
🖤💛 Start feeling a little more comfortable about coming back to SMS!

And here's something we especially want our students to know: you do not have to have everything figured out before August 25.

You don't have to know exactly where every classroom is. You don't have to remember every teacher's name. You don't have to know exactly how your schedule works.

That's what we're here for.

Come to Orientation, walk around, ask us questions, and get comfortable in the building. We would much rather you ask us something than spend the next week worrying about it.

🐾 12 DAYS UNTIL OUR COUGARS ARE BACK! 🐾

We are getting CLOSE! With less than two weeks until the first day of school, here are the dates SMS families need to know right now:

📅 TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 — 6TH GRADE JUMP START
Our incoming 6th graders who have been confirmed to attend Simons Middle School will join us from 8:30 AM–12:00 PM. Students will get their schedules, tour the building, meet people, learn how things work at SMS, participate in activities, and have lunch with us. A parent/guardian information session will also be held at 11:00 AM. Please use the QR Code to RSVP if you haven't already.

📅 TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 — 7TH & 8TH GRADE ORIENTATION
8th Grade: 5:00–6:00 PM
Welcome/Need-to-Know Meeting at 5:15 PM

📅 STARTING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19
Students who are unable to attend Orientation may begin stopping by SMS between 8:00 AM–3:00 PM to pick up schedules.

🐾 NEW TO FLEMING COUNTY SCHOOLS?
Students new to the district who will be attending SMS can also begin coming to the school on August 19 to complete registration. Please remember that new students complete a **paper registration packet** rather than online registration. Enrollment requires specific documentation, attendance, and behavior requirements.

💻 RETURNING STUDENTS: If your family has not completed Online Registration through Infinite Campus yet, please get that taken care of before Orientation. This helps us know your student is ready to begin the year and ensures we have current information on file.
