Tonight, the boys and girls XC teams competed at the Milan Puddle Jumper Invitational. Brayden Brodie led the boys team with a 20:19 and coming in 17th place, earning a medal. Freshmen Gwen Dalton, in her first ever varsity race, medaled and led the girls team with a 27:11 and taking 21st! The rest of the team did great as well and it was an awesome race to kick-off the cross country season!

Our inaugural Flat Rock Cross Country Pledge Run was a huge success! Thank you so much to all of our donors! The kids truly felt the support and had a great time on their run today. We raised a lot of money that will be used throughout the season to make this season fun and enjoyable! Thank you also to all of the parents that came out and rooted on the runners today. Thank you again and looking forward to a great season!

Good morning and happy Saturday cross country families,

I am looking forward to the program’s inaugural pledge run on Monday. I want to invite all pledgers to our run. I bought small dry erase signs for the kids to carry while they run that will display who those miles are dedicated to. For example the sign may read, “These 2 miles are for Grandma Jones and Uncle Steve…Love you!” When they stop to update the donor’s name, there will be a photo opportunity. If your child didn’t raise any money, they will still run in the event.

Thank you to everyone who has helped raise money for the team. As of this morning, we have raised $881! Thank you to everyone who showed up today for a great first practice of the season. It was step one towards a great year. We missed all our band kids and others who were out of town. Hope to see you soon! Just a reminder that a valid physical dated after April 15th of this year is needed. Please get one in as soon as possible if you haven't already.

Next, just want to remind everyone about the two fundraisers for the cross country team this year. The first one is our team store. It runs until August 31st, with 10% of all the profits going back to the XC team. Items will be shipped straight to your home with a couple of business days. The second fundraiser is our First Annual Flat Rock Pledge Run. This will take place next Monday, August 17th. Our athletes will be doing a long run that day (5-10 miles, depending on the athlete). Donations can be made on a per mile basis (ex. $2 per mile, so a 10 mile-run would be a $20 donation) or can be made on a flat-fee basis where the miles run that day have nothing to do with the donation (ex. $20 to Athlete A). Each athlete who earns at least $100 in donations will earn a $15 gift card of their choice. Also, each athlete who garners at least 10 different donators of at least $5 will earn a t-shirt. I know it seems like school just got out, but the official fall sports season is almost upon us! Starting Monday, August 10th, we will be practicing Monday-Friday 3:00-4:30 at the high school. A valid physical dated after April 15th of this year is needed. Please get one in as soon as possible.
