Growth often begins with a willingness to embrace change.

When asked about a life-changing experience, Brian Van Meerten shared how joining the Peace Corps and being adopted into a Basotho Tribe transformed his perspective. Immersing himself in a new culture, learning a new language, and even receiving a new name challenged him to see the world, and himself, differently.

His reason for stepping into the unknown?

"To grow and to see something new."

What change has shaped you into the leader you are today?

I recently joined Moshe Rosenblum-Amsel CPA MBA on the Profit with Law podcast for a conversation about leadership, workplace culture, and the hidden risks organizations face when growth outpaces leadership development.

We talked about succession planning, storytelling as a leadership tool, and why connection and vulnerability matter so much in the workplace.

If you’re building a team, growing a business, or developing future leaders, I think you’ll find a lot of value in this conversation.

I couldn't see the audience because of the stage lights. Every once in a while, my lip would stick to my teeth because I was getting the dry mouth of nervousness. It's my turn with the mic at the Moth GrandSLAM with 9 other AZ winners from the past year.

5 years ago, if you would have told me that I would be standing on a stage in a storytelling competition sharing a word-for-word memorized story about dancing with my daughter before she launched to Paris, I would have had so many questions. But such is life. It unfolds and develops in ways that we often don't plan. I'd love to share that story with you now.

Sometimes growth requires a leap of faith.

In this conversation, Cynthia Nemeth shares the story of relocating her family to Northern Arizona in pursuit of a new opportunity and professional growth. What began as a career promotion became a reminder that meaningful change often starts with courage, ambition, and a willingness to try something new.

Her story highlights an important truth: you may not always know how things will turn out, but sometimes you have to trust yourself enough to take the next step.

Change often begins with a simple but important question:
“Is this still working for me?”

In this conversation, Dr. Bizzy Riley shares how she reevaluated her 20-year primary care practice and made the decision to change her payment structure to better reflect the value and quality of the care she provides.

Her story is a powerful reminder that growth sometimes requires us to advocate for ourselves, make difficult adjustments, and align our work with sustainability and purpose.
