NAU Visual Communication

NAU Visual Communication The Visual Communication Program at NAU is housed in the School of Communication in the College of SBS.

The program graduates students with a BFA in Visual Communication with an emphasis is Graphic Design or Motion Design. The visual communication program offers a creative and intellectually stimulating environment, with a history of over fifty years. Our program brings together a diverse group of faculty with an array of interest areas. We focus on giving our students the necessary technical, theor

etical, and experiential tools to become well-rounded designers capable of shaping the future of this field. Our facilities are well equipped with MAC computer labs, large format printers, and 3D printing. Our students have access to innovative collaborative learning spaces, a design studio where they can experience professional practice, experimental classes, and a speaker series that provides a strong connection with professionals in the field. We are proud to offer our students individual attention, through small class sizes. We have a strong connection with the Flagstaff community, with which we have established a history of involvement, collaboration, and service.

Join us on Thursday, November 21 for an artist talk with Rodrigo de Toledo.

Rodrigo de Toledo: Kin celebrates fantastical ancestors on large acrylic paintings, transported from the walls of an otherworldly and ageless temple. Portraits of entities staring from a mythological realm. On a visually distressed canvas surface, de Toledo disrupts his own pre-established iconographic vocabulary and the visual language of comics and cartoons, using playfully fluid energetic graphisms.

It’s never been a better time to be creative. There are so many paths to success – freelance, agency, entrepreneur, in-house and more. But things are… different than they used to be. How do we grow our creative potential in a world of uncertainty? What skills are in demand? And BTW – where does confidence come from? Eric shares mistakes and successes, as well as practical insights in this interactive presentation.
