NAU in Australia: Sociology of Art and Visual Culture
Summer Study Abroad Course: July 5-19, 2026
Application Deadline: February 15th (but early applications are recommended!)
3 Credits: Students choose either ART 399 or SOC 301 (General Studies “Social & Political Worlds”)
While enjoying 15 days across the Eastern states of Australia, you will gain new awareness of the world of fine arts, the social forces that create this world, and your place within it. As we recognize the structures that underlie visual culture, we also focus on the history and context of art in Australia. You will learn to speak and write about art and the sociology of visual culture with clarity, specificity, intelligence, original insight, and depth. You will also engage in entry-level art creation through travel sketchbooks. Don’t miss this adventurous class!

This summer join us for a two-week faculty-led social work program to Italy! We will spend some time in Rome, Isernia, Termoli, Agnone, and Bari where we will experience cultural activities and have exposure with social service agencies
while abroad!
Earn 6 credits in SW 450 - Mental Health & SW 310 - Human Fundamentals of Social Work Practice! The program will run from May 26-June 12th!
