Mother Road By Octavio Solis
Clifford E. White Theater — October 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, at 7:30pm and October 25 at 2:00pm, 2026
A modern tale of legacy, family, and social justice.
In honor of the 100th anniversary of Route 66, NAU Theatre proudly presents Mother Road, Octavio Solis’s modern retelling of The Grapes of Wrath. This gripping, heartfelt story follows William Joad and Martín Jodes, unexpected cousins bound by legacy, as they journey from California back to Oklahoma. Filled with humor, humanity, and social urgency, Mother Road reimagines the Joad family’s mythic path for a new generation.
The production is made possible by a generous donation from Dennis and Lori Kruse.

And we come to the end...or the beginning with September 2025 and BUZZ a new play by Hope Villanueva, in the Studio Theater.
No one wants to fade into irrelevance, or worse, disappear. But that’s exactly what begins to happen to Alicia. Once a brilliant entomologist at the top of her field, she suddenly finds herself aging out of a young person’s game. Forty hits, injuries stack up, and the pressure to stay visible becomes relentless.
Then the Murder Hornets arrive.
