The First Mesa Elementary School Student Council and class representatives traveled from the Hopi Tribe to visit Northern Arizona University, where they met with NAU’s Institute for Native-serving Educators and the Department of Applied Indigenous Studies to strengthen their leadership skills.

Selected as one of only 10 teachers nationwide—and the sole representative from Arizona—for this prestigious program, Mr. Pineda continues to exemplify excellence in education. 🌟

What an incredible week of celebration it was here at NAU! 🎉
We marked our first Teaching in Indigenous Communities certificate graduate, celebrated 16 NAU PITAS graduates, and honored 130+ NAU Indigenous graduates! 🙌
We capped it off with an inspiring Tribal Homelands visit to Dishchii’bikoh Community School with our INE Fellows. 🌄✨
So proud and inspired! 🔥
