Hi everyone. We haven't posted in a long time because the group is defunct (we don't have University student org registration). However, something has happened that could use your attention.

Vandals broke into the Chabad house on West University Ave and painted swastikas on windows and walls.

Secular people don't operate on thoughts and prayers. We take action! Here's how you can help:

1. Do SOMETHING, not nothing. Apathy will be interpreted as support of the offender(s).

2. Check on those you know who might be directly affected by this hate crime. But, don't overwhelm them with too many questions. If they want space, give em space.

3. Talk to others. Help news of this event get a wide reach.

4. Voice your support, but wait for those who have been directly affected to respond before taking direct action. Ie don't show up to the scene of the crime for a protest without invitation from Chabad. Look for announcements from official sources about how you can help:

Disasters: Are you prepared for a fire or unforeseen disaster? What ways should you be ready? What fails and what works in areas that have been hit by disasters such as hurricanes/ floods etc? How can we help others in these situations?

Environment and Fossil Fuels: Drilling, fracking, production of consumer products and more. What works and what doesn’t? What are the alternatives and how effective are they?

Animal abuse: humans verses animals? When pets are abused what can we do? What is the line between treatment of a pet, a zoo animal, or animals we raise for food?

Homelessness: How does the US handle homelessness? Are their countries or even location in the US that are doing it right?

Mental Illness and Depression: How does our culture handle it. Techniques for what to say to someone who struggles. Have you ever known someone who committed or thought of committing su***de? What are the signs and what should we do if we see them?

Religion in politics: What politicians cite religion as a basis for their career? What is the balance? What needs to change to keep policy and religion separate?

What are the statistics on child r**e and how could they be changed? What are some ways the judicial system should handle these cases?
