🖤 May is Skin Cancer & Melanoma Awareness Month🖤
Before May ends and as the summer months continue, we’re raising awareness about skin cancer and melanoma. At C-NACHE, we want to highlight the importance of early detection and continue supporting healthier outcomes for all communities, especially those who have historically faced barriers to care 🎗️
An easy way to check for early signs of skin cancer and melanoma is by looking for changes in your skin using the ABCDE method. This tool helps identify warning signs early, so you know when it may be time to seek care. 🌞
👒 There are also simple ways to help prevent skin cancer and melanoma, such as wearing sunscreen, covering up in the sun, and using hats and sunglasses. These habits can help reduce risk and support long-term skin health. 👓

As our time at the 2026 World Indigenous Cancer Conference (WICC) comes to a close in Aotearoa (New Zealand), we reflect fondly on the connections made, lessons learned, and whānau (family) gained. 🎗
🫶🏽 It was an incredible experience to hear from diverse Indigenous communities around the world about their unique cancer health equity efforts and to share our own perspectives.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the Māori people for welcoming us onto their traditional homelands in Aotearoa.🌟
Until next time WICC!🛫

🌏Celebrating Earth Day in Beautiful Aotearoa 😍
Our team is honored to celebrate Earth Day on the traditional homelands of the Māori people here in Aotearoa (New Zealand).🌿
🌄 We feel very fortunate for the opportunity to visit and explore the National Kiwi Hatchery, the Agrodome Sheep Farm, Wairere Falls, and the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, before our conference business. Throughout our journey we were able to embrace the beauty of the Aotearoa countryside.🐑
Please enjoy the photos from our travels and remember the land is our relative and we must treat her with the same love and respect, today and every day. 🌱

🌟 C-NACHE Takes the World Stage 🌏
🎙️ C-NACHE Research Coordinator, Chassity Begay, MPH presented at the 2026 World Indigenous Cancer Conference (WICC) in Auckland, Aotearoa (New Zealand).
🪶 Representing Indigenous efforts in cancer research in Arizona, she highlighted the Community Cancer Care Services and Burden Assessment (CA) surveys. Attendees were able to learn about the process of obtaining approval from distinct Sovereign Native Nations in Arizona, creating the CA survey, collaborating with tribal liaisons, conducting data collection, sharing aggregate data, and dissemination efforts.
👏🏽 Chassity received positive feedback and good engagement from conference attendees, with some inquiring on how they could replicate something similar in their own communities.
✨ We are honored for this opportunity to share our work and learn from other Indigenous communities across the world. 🤗
