It’s time for YETI OF THE WEEK!
Meet Corban Wood! 👋 Corban teaches 8th grade Physics, AP Physics 1 and 2, and a senior capstone course called Modern Physics.
On any given day, you’ll find his students experimenting with tools, building, testing, and getting the hands-on experience they need to truly understand challenging concepts. Corban’s passion for physics shines through in his classroom, where he has a talent for translating complex subject matter into something accessible, engaging, and—most importantly—fun!
It’s no wonder he’s a student favorite! ⚡🔬
A few fun facts about Corban:
1. I have a 6-year-old husky/malamute named Mishka. She thinks she can occupy the same space as you, so she likely to push you around as much as she can.
2. I have lived in seven different states throughout my life: NY, TX, GA, WV, MA, MS, and AZ.
3. I can solve a Rubik's cube in about 50 seconds. I've also tried a few different ones like a 2x2, 4x4, and one with 12 sides.
4. In my free time, I like to play a lot of games. I play video games, tabletop games, and RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons. And I also play Warhammer 40,000 which has gotten me into painting as a pass time.
5. I went to school at NAU for astronomy and physics as well as secondary education. This is my third year at BASIS Flagstaff teaching my favorite subject. Since I went to school for astronomy, I also enjoy nights out with a telescope and a camera to photograph the night sky!
