Help us be a food waste warrior this week! Food service is having a food waste competition where four elementary schools will be competing against the other grades in their school to see who has the least food waste. The winning grade will win a pizza party!

Did you know: the environmental impact of of food waste is the methane gas it releases in our landfill. Methane is one of the primary contributors to harming the atmosphere.

The Flagstaff Unified School District is celebrating National School Breakfast Week March 7-11, 2022.

According to the School Nutrition Association, National School Breakfast Week celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for success. This year’s theme, “Take Off with School Breakfast,” reminds parents and stakeholders that a healthy school breakfast helps ensure students’ academic success in school, so they can “take off” and reach their goals.

This week for National School Breakfast Week our staff went to elementary schools to have breakfast smoothie demonstrations for the students. Smoothies are a great way to increase our fruit and vegetable intake. We added the recipes for both of the delicious smoothies we demonstrated so students can try them at home!
