BHMS kicked off First Chapter Friday today. First Chapter Friday is an initiative where teachers read the first chapter of a book that can be found in the BHMS Media Center. The goal is to encourage students to develop a love of reading.

Mrs. Heather Smith, Mr. Jerry Burke, and Mrs. Ashley Coleman’s 6th Grade ELA classes recently completed a collaborative jigsaw activity focused on their ongoing study of selfies through time. Students worked together in small groups to explore different aspects of the topic, share their findings, and build a deeper understanding through meaningful collaboration and discussion. This engaging activity encouraged students to communicate, think critically, and learn from one another.

A community member had a medical emergency in the neighborhood by our school. At approximately 4:30 pm, they were Lifeflighted to a hospital from the BHMS bus parking lot.

All students and staff at Ben Hill Middle School are safe and no one from our school was involved.
