Fitchburg High School Music Department

Each year, the graduating members of our music-making community add their handprints to our trees. Each leaf is unique and beautiful on its own, but when we join together, our trees are stronger and more rich because of their presence. A very fitting metaphor for our department!

Some we have only known for a short time and some we have known their entire high school experience. Regardless of their length of time, each has been a bright spark. Nearly every one of them has been dedicated to every performing art at FHS!

We wish them the best of luck as they go forth to bloom where they are planted!

Over 100 musicians in grades 7-12 performed at Great East Music Festival yesterday. We are so proud of their hard work, growth, and successes this year. Congratulations to these fantastic students for earning silver and gold medals for their performances!!!

Congratulations to band member Dax Richard! Yesterday he participated in the Contemporary Creators Festival at the Mass Music Educators Association annual conference, where he presented his original composition "Chilly Cheddar" and received feedback (pictured with Berklee College of Music professor Manuel Garcia-Baro). Dax said "the opportunity to be a part of our state’s vast musical community was very eye-opening.” We can't wait to see your continued growth!

A pivotal year for our choral program! Two students were accepted into the Massachusetts Central District Chorus! Monica Padilla, Senior, also earned an all-state chorus recommendation.

Today, Monica Padilla, Alto, and Benjamin Willows, Bass, will represent Fitchburg High School at one of the most prestigious performing halls in central Massachusetts, Mechanics Hall, Worcester. Their representation at the CDMMEA festival in 2026 marks a significant milestone in the history of choral music at Fitchburg High School, having not had students in this Choir since the 1990s.
