👮‍♀️ Preparing Our New Teachers. Supporting Our Schools.

As part of our new teacher training, our newest educators recently participated in crisis response training with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department.

Teaching is about so much more than what happens in the classroom. Our teachers are caring for students, building relationships, responding to unexpected situations, and creating safe, supportive learning environments every day. We want to make sure our newest staff members feel prepared and supported as they take on this important responsibility. Welcome to our new instructors, Ron Jacobs-Electricity, Holly Weaver- Cosmetology, Kevin McWhorter -Firefighting and Laura Daniel-Instructional Coach.

A special thank-you to our local law enforcement partners for sharing their expertise, answering questions, and helping our teachers better understand how we can work together during challenging situations.

We’re grateful for the partnership and continued support of those who help keep our schools and students safe. 💙

Our Masonry students brought their skills, determination, and craftsmanship to the AGCVA Skills Competition at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds and brought home the top two spots!

We’re incredibly proud of Austin Bussard, who placed 1st in the AGCVA Skills Competition for HVACR at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds! Austin is bringing home $1,000 to VCTC for his outstanding performance!

Last night, Seniors Camden Cline and Logan Wilcher represented the VCTC Electricity program competing in the AGCVA skills competitions at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.
Camden Cline finished in third place.

Thank you for their willingness to compete. Thank you also to our new Electricity Instructor, Mr. Ronnie Jacobs, for working with our students before the school year started to prepare for the competition.

🚧 VDOT Construction Update – Woodrow Wilson Avenue

If you travel along Woodrow Wilson Avenue (Route 358), here’s a heads-up about upcoming road work that may affect the commute of SVGS students and families to and from the Woodrow Wilson Complex.

VDOT is widening Woodrow Wilson Avenue to:
• Add a second northbound lane
• Add new turn lanes at U.S. 250
• Construct a new roundabout at Hornet Road/Vo Tech Road

📅 What to expect during the 2026–27 school year:
➡️ 24/7 shoulder closures are expected.
➡️ Weekday flagger-controlled traffic is expected from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

🔄 Roundabout construction: Work is scheduled to begin after the school year ends in May 2027 and is expected to be completed by September 2027.

Please plan ahead, allow a little extra travel time, and use extra caution in the construction area. 🚗

Last night, VCTC Carpentry students put their skills to the test at the Rockingham County Fair during the Skilled Trades Competition hosted by the Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA).

Congratulations to Baylor Graber on earning 3rd place!And a big shoutout to Elliot Hall and Jacob Miles for competing and representing VCTC! We’re proud of all three students for putting their craftsmanship, knowledge, and determination to work!

Our VCTC HOSA students proudly represented our school at the International HOSA Leadership Conference in Indianapolis this June, competing with students from around the world. Congratulations to our remarkable students and heartfelt thanks to the teachers who inspired and prepared them for this incredible opportunity. Your VCTC family is proud of you!
