Someone says that the only constant is change.... and with that I wanted to let the community know of a change I am making. I will be teaching Family and Consumer Science (the old home economics) at a local school this fall so I will no longer be holding classes for Creatability Academy. It has been a tough decision but I feel good about going forward in this way.

The last 2 years I have greatly enjoyed getting to know members of the community as I've taught many children in my home classroom. I have met some of the greatest families and kids and will miss them tremendously. I have enjoyed all of the classes and I have learned and grown so much just as the students have!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my small business and for being so positive and uplifting. I can honestly say that I won't have a bad memory or experience to look back on from the last 2 years and I credit the local community for that! I have been blessed to try new things when I felt inspired to and I look forward to working with and serving a new community this fall.

I will likely maintain this page but the sign up software will no longer be active. Feel free to keep in touch via email or Facebook and I hope I run into friends in the community!

That’s a wrap on the last camp for the summer. Crepes and French fries were the biggest hit in the kitchen. The older class changed plans on me when they all wanted to make pencil rolls, so we rolled with it and made pencil rolls! Aprons with pockets and gathers were a challenging project as well. So much confidence gained and fun times shared!

First week of sewing/cooking camp was so fun! We had projects loosely based on the upcoming Olympics- namely foods that are French inspired or have the name French in them! French bread, French toast, French fries, crepes, and mini croquets monsier sandwiches. Everyone loved the French fries and crepes the most! Learned kitchen safety along the way.

Of course we made half aprons to go with our cooking. Also bean bags, book marks, head bands, stuffys, pillows, yarn weaving, USA banners, and pin cushions. We learned hemming, gathering, pinning, measuring, ironing, and grommetting. I’m always amazed at the confidence everyone gains over a few short days after being scared of the sewing machine on day 1.

This week was our STEM camp week! We learned about the summer olympics and landmarks in Paris. We practiced measuring lengths and liquids, built landmarks with different materials, designed boats, learned computer skills, played olympic sport games, built mini foosball games, practiced teamwork, learned coding, used robots, had fun snacks, and made new friends. The kids were so happy and delighted to be there!

While taking a short break from classes, I have been learning so much about one of my favorite technologies-3D printing! This giant Lego flower wreath is one of my favorite projects so far and will be the perfect addition to the classroom door! I have enjoyed finding designs that other talented people have designed, as well as trying my hand at designing my own things. There is a steep learning curve to troubleshooting the machine and maintaining and fixing issues. Big shout out to my 2 oldest kids who are masters at 3D printing and encouraged me several years ago to teach myself and buy my own!

For the 4th year in a row I was the costume director and seamstress for the Wilson Elementary school play. This was a large cast with the ensemble of 19 each having 3 or 4 costumes each! I learn a lot each time and enjoy being with my students and friends from WES!

Jan/Feb classes have concluded and we had so much fun with robotics challenges and sewing projects! We made water bottle carriers, cardboard carnival games for the robots to play (harder than it sounds!), tote bags, winter hats, and Valentine's envelopes.

At this time there aren't more spring classes to sign up for. I have a possible foot surgery coming up and a son graduating high school so I have a few scheduling things to consider. If I do have spring classes, they will be posted here soon!
