Interprofessionalism isn’t always built in the classroom. Sometimes, it happens over lunch… and a *very* competitive game of ping pong. 🏓😄

PA, PT, and OT students and faculty took some time to connect, recharge, and enjoy a little friendly competition together at MDCHS today!

Building relationships across disciplines is an important part of learning to work as a healthcare team — and we’re pretty sure bragging rights count as team building, too. 😉

🩺Learning Beyond the Classroom🩺

Check out two students from the Class of ‘28 who visited Birch Gardens of Staunton Virginia for an early clinical experience.

Students had the opportunity to spend meaningful one-on-one time with residents while practicing history-taking and communication skills and learning firsthand how to connect with and care for older adults.

Experiences like these are about so much more than developing clinical skills. They are about listening to stories, building trust, understanding the unique needs of geriatric patients, and recognizing that sometimes simply spending time with someone can be an important part of caring for them.

We are grateful to the residents and staff at Birch Gardens for welcoming our students and helping shape the next generation of compassionate PA providers.
