It's about our kids. Let's talk about Schools, our kids, and the issues. It's about the kids, not politics. Our kids are our greatest treasures and our future.

This page is about education, schools, and things that could or do directly impact our schools and kids. The thoughts shared are my own or are reflections based on the various meetings I attend and information I come across. I welcome you to comment with your own thoughts and insights on this page as well regarding any public education topics that could be related to our schools. The educational s

At tonight's HEPL board meeting, they recognized David Heighway for his 18 years of service.

The slate is now finalized for the Hamilton Southeastern School Board for the 2026 election:

🏫 Hamilton Southeastern School Board — 2026 Filed Candidates
(Four districts, one seat each)

District 1 (1 seat)
* Faiza Maqsood — No Party
* Greg Wright — Republican
* Anthony Jason Wren — Libertarian

District 2 (1 seat)
* Josh Perry — No Party
* Cyrus Keck — No Party
* Ferras B. — No Party

District 3 (1 seat)

For this election, you vote for one person within your own district. As such, District 4 is already decided.

No current incumbents are running for reelection.

The party affiliation is something new the State of Indiana has allowed on School Board elections. It is optional. The School Board role is expected to be non-partisan.

HEPL (Public library) Board of Trustees Meeting -
Tomorrow - Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 6:15 PM

Online agenda lists Center Meeting Room, Fishers Library
(might need to doublecheck as that is where it was last month as well and they usuaslly swap between libraries)

Available via Zoom at https://hepl.zoom.us/j/84882918969

I don't see any major items on agenda. There is an honoring of David Heighway, a review of the schematic design (I assume for new branch), and the director's report.

Don't forget the Summer reading program is happening right now too.

Regarding referendums in Hamilton County. This is what I see at this time:

HSE:
Current: .1995
Ballot number: .36

Carmel Clay:
Current: .24 (.19 operations and .05 Security)
Ballot number: TBD
CSS Ballot is expected to be no more than .4274

Noblesville:
Current: .37
Ballot number: .57

Westfield:
Current: .17
Ballot number: .3941

If you don't like these potential increases, then you should complain to your state legislation representatives that made votes that cut public school funding.

>> EDITED: Updated expected rate for CCS. Was originally told between .55 and .65. The numbers reported ($430k avg home / $1064 amount) equate to the now shown above of .4274. CCS is, however, still TBD at this time).

Sharing, FYI:

Updated handbooks at HSE have passed 7-0 at the school board meeting. They are good for another year.

HSE Referendum will be on the ballot in November.

It passed HSE school board 6-0.

Tiffany Pascoe "abstained".

Even though they said the vote was 6-0, I'll take that again as a no vote and thus 6-1.

She again spoke about giving the voters the decision, but voting against (or abstaining) means she made the decision instead of letting the voters. Putting this on the ballot doesn't means she increased taxes; It means she let the voters decide. To me, it seems that she again voted to take the vote away from the voters.

Crazy logic.
