By the bright fire of Beltane,
By the Hawthorn blooming bold,
I stand between the winter past
And summer’s heart of gold.

I release what binds and burdens,
Habits, fears that dim my flame —
Into the Bel-fire I cast them,
Ash to ash, none stay the same.

What served me once, I thank and free,
Your lessons are kept, your weight now free.
