McKenzie Athletics is back!

McKenzie Athletics is back!

Our middle and high school cross-country teams will travel to Junction City for the JC Rust Buster, beginning at 9 a.m.
At McKenzie, we’ll have a full afternoon of home competition:
Football vs. Ione/Arlington — 1 p.m.
Volleyball — Four-team round-robin tournament beginning at 2 p.m.

Seeking Welcoming Host Families for International Exchange Students

Dear McKenzie Families and Community,

First, a big thank you who have already stepped up to open up your homes and families to exchange students for the coming school year! We still have a wonderful opportunity for our school community to welcome additional international cultural exchange students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. We are reaching out because there are a number of students who are currently in need of local host families to open their doors and make these life-changing experiences possible.

The World Heritage International Student Exchange Program has many exceptional students—excelling in everything from academics and athletics to music and the arts—who are eager to study at McKenzie.

Here are a few quick and important details about hosting:

Flexible Timeframes: Families can choose to host a student for either a single semester (arriving in August and staying through January) or for the full school year (August to the end of the school year).

Financial & Medical Independence: Exchange students come with their own medical insurance and their own monthly spending money to cover all personal expenses.

All Families Welcome: There is no "perfect" mold for a host family. Host families can be traditional or non-traditional, with or without children. These students aren't looking for perfect houses; they are simply looking for welcoming, caring people who are excited to share their home and culture.

Hosting an exchange student is an incredibly rewarding experience that brings a unique cultural perspective to your home and deeply enriches our entire school community.

🍎 Free Summer Meals for Kids

Starting Tuesday, June 30, free take-home meals will be available twice a week for all children and teens ages 0–18.

Free meals are available to all children and teens ages 0–18. You do not have to be a McKenzie School District student to participate.

Meal Pickup Locations & Times
📍 Everyone's Market (Vida): Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00–10:00 a.m.
📍 Lazy Days (Blue River): Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Each pickup includes multiple breakfasts and lunches to help feed children throughout the week.

We'll post the weekly menu in the comments and have printed copies available at meal pickup.

Please help us spread the word so every child who could benefit from this program knows it's available.

Reminder - registration closes this Thursday

Registration is now open for McKenzie Summer Camp!

Students will enjoy outdoor adventures, hiking, arts and crafts, sports, water activities, mini golf, bowling, and more throughout a fun-filled summer program.

What a way to wrap up the school year!

From Elementary Field Day and our 4th Quarter Assembly to McKenzie Day activities for our middle and high school students, the final days of school were filled with fun, celebration, and community. We also got to celebrate our kinders and 6th graders at their promotion ceremonies.

After checking out with teachers, cleaning lockers, and wrapping up the year, students had the chance to enjoy a variety of activities, including karaoke, movies, board games, computer games, open gym, and wiffle ball. Along the way, a few students even spent some time with Harold the Skeleton, who made his usual appearance for the end-of-year festivities.

As buses pulled away for the summer, staff sent students off in style with a can-can line, celebrating another successful year at McKenzie.

Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community for a wonderful school year. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break.
