We are proud to announce that 289 readers were reached during the Read for the Record Day! Congratulations to the hard-working team in our Media Center — Laurie Schmidt and Sharen Johnsen — on presenting the book "Not Norman: A Goldfish Story." This team does more than read, they present with costumes and all! Various parties are planned for Halloween in the afternoon of 10/30/15. Kindergarten and First grade should bring costumes to put on in the afternoon. The first grade will be trick or treating in Askov starting at 12:00 p.m.

Sorry for confusion over the mile run. Mother Nature got in the way. Some students are under the impression there is swimming tomorrow. While this would be a wonderful reward, more planning is always needed. Therefore NO swimming for elementary gym on Wednesday, October 14. Thank you!!

East Central got a press release noting that the Sandstone Sportmen's club will be holding firearm safety training again this fall. Classes are 9/15, 9/17, 9/22, 9/24, 9/29, 10/1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Information on ages and requirements can be found at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/fi****ms/index.html.

It's hard to believe, but the East Central Open House is right around the corner. Come by on September 3rd between the hours of 3:30 and 6:45 p.m. to meet your teachers, see the changes at the school and get all the information you need to start the year right!

Can't make the open house? Call the office and we will arrange a tour for new students and can get information to current students. Stop by, we love to see our students and EC families!

K-6 grade supply lists are available at http://www.eastcentral.k12.mn.us/page/2916 or the Elementary school homepage. If you look down on the left side KG-3 are listed and 4-6 are listed. The PTO is providing items that even are on the lists, however, they tend to get low during the school year. If you are unable to purchase the items on the list, just let the teacher know and we will get things settled for your student. We thank everyone for their interest and efforts!

We are very grateful to our wonderful PTO and EC families who help supply our school year! Now for the students to add the energy...

Hi Parents and guardians. There has been a lot of confusion over school supply lists this week. The local paper stated that the PTO purchased all the supplies, however, some teachers sent home supply lists. The wonderful PTO is supplying a MAJORITY of supplies and teachers are asking students to bring the rest.

Lists are being created and will be put on the school website. Because everything was supplied in the past, we have not worked with major retailers like Walmart on their sites, but can if enough parents request it.
