Do you produce your own eggs, dairy, or meat? Do you want to?

Come chat with fellow producers and our special guest Jane Jewett of Willow Sedge Farm in Palisade, MN at the Proteins Meat-Up this weekend. We will talk about everything meat, eggs, and dairy and what you need to know to buy and sell these products in our communities! Jane is a wealth of information and has a lifetime of experience to share about selling homegrown eggs and meat under MN Custom Exempt Laws. We are looking forward to hosting her and learning more. There will be snacks and lunch provided.

Help us build a simple c***r press and learn how to build one at home with Ken Guenthner. Learn the basics of pressing apples for both fresh and hard c***r. Share ideas, recipes, and enjoy some c***r straight from the press. All press components will be ready for assembly and no experience, tools, or special skills are necessary.

Coming up this weekend, Laurie Kallinen will be hosting a Poultry Butchering Workshop to share all about poultry processing from dispatching birds to shrink-wrapped meat ready for the freezer.

Learn how easy it is to process your own meat and how to run the Yardman Chicken Plucker that will be available for check-out from the FFC equipment lending library! Participate or simply observe. If you can’t make it for the whole day, come when you can, leave when you must.

Harvest season is upon us! Join Laurie Kallinen for a day of hands-on poultry processing and learn how to use the shared lending library processing equipment at a Poultry Butchering Workshop. Help build a simple c***r press and learn how to build one at home with Ken Guenthner at the C***r Press Build Workshop at the AgroEcology Center. Then discuss everything meat, eggs, and dairy at Proteins Meat-Up with Jane Jewett to learn how to come together to sell your proteins in the community under MN Custom Exempt laws.

Take a walk on the land at the AgroEcology Center this Saturday morning at our August Farm Tour! Participants will get an overview of permaculture techniques, cold-hardy perennials, mushroom cultivation and more.

Have you ever tasted a seaberry? It is a bright orange berry on a sea buckthorn shrub which tastes bright, sour, and citrusy. They are just coming into season right now, and you will get a chance to taste them during the tour.

There's still time to RSVP for Intro to Beekeeping, a free community workshop coming up this Saturday afternoon!

Learn the basics of beekeeping with Lise Abazs at her family’s off-grid homestead, Round River Farm. Walk through the process from hive management to honey production and get a chance to taste local honey. Come prepared for the outdoors! Park at base of hill and walk or carpool up.
