- I love this piece from India about why rankings are not what should matter most for international students when choosing universities. Why? Because what the rankings measure generally are not what students are actually most concerned about. “The issue with university rankings is not that they are flawed, but rather that they are answering a question most international students are not actually asking. The three most common elements used in university ranking systems are academic reputation, citations per faculty member, and research output, and none of these three metrics are helpful in answering the question of where companies recruit, the strength of internship opportunities at specific campuses, or whether a particular university graduate will be able to find a job within 6 months of receiving their degree.”
