Day 1 of the Aide/Paraprofessional PD brought 40 superhero paraprofessionals to the Hancock County ESC represent our ESC classrooms, Riverdale Local Schools, and Liberty-Benton Local Schools. 🍎✨

From deep dives into Special Education basics (ETRs & IEPs) to mastering Behavior Basics and nonviolent crisis intervention, our team spent the day building skills to better support our students every step of the way. We also highlighted the power of professionalism, effective communication, and presence with some thought-provoking simulations.

Thank you to our dedicated team for showing up, learning together, and bringing so much heart to our schools! ❤️

The HCESC instruction/curriculum/leadership team was at it again this morning facilitating conversations centered on culture, shared values, and purpose with the staff at Vanlue Local School. Thanks to the Vanlue staff and administrators for great discussions. The positive momentum in this district is electric! ⚡

Today, the HCESC curriculum/instruction/leadership team was honored to facilitate the Culturize Introduction workshop with the incredible staff at Riverdale Local Schools! We kicked off the session grounded in Riverdale's core mission: Every Child. Every Day. Whatever It Takes.

Together, we challenged ourselves with two big questions for the school year:
❓ What if the most important thing we do this year isn’t something that can be measured on a test?
❓ What if it’s helping a child believe they matter?

Through honest discussions and powerful reflections exploring how our words and actions shape our school environment, Riverdale staff dove deep into what it truly means to make sure every student—and staff member—feels valued and heard.

Leading a school can be a challenging puzzle and these leaders found pieces throughout the day, allowing them to see the "big picture". The HCESC kicked off the 2026-2027 school year welcoming our member school and ESC administrators back at our annual Administrator Retreat.

Thank you to keynote Pat Adkins and presenters Dr. Julie McIntosh and Jessica Philemond. We also appreciate the generosity of the Ohio Schools Council, SORSA, and the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts staff for making today amazing.

A huge shoutout and thank you to our 21 amazing ESC and member school educators who attended the Culturize Institute earlier this week! ✨

This group from Hancock County joined 500 educators from across the nation (including our neighbors from Findlay High School) to shift mindsets, shape culture, and put kids first. Thank you for investing your time and energy into bringing these powerful practices back to our classrooms and communities. We can't wait to see the positive impact of your leadership in action! ❤️🍎

The goal: To leverage our most precious commodity - time.
Over 50 administrators and administrative assistants from across the region experienced a "digital intervention" led by instructor John Sowash. Leveraging Google tools at an advanced level, school personnel can better connect with students, staff, and families.
