The Altec Innovation Challenge is an annual STEM-focused competition that is available to high school students in the Roanoke area.

It's a chance to:
• assemble a team,
• identify a real-world problem,
• design an innovative solution, and
• make a real difference in our community.

The team with the winning idea will receive $10,000 to make their solution a reality. If you are interested in participating, scan the QR code in the attached flyer to complete an interest form.

• You DO NOT have to have your team finalized
• You DO NOT have to know what real-world problem you want to solve
• You ONLY need to submit the form by October 2 saying that your team is interested in participating.

Voluntary activities include all interscholastic athletics designated by the Virginia High School League, all club sports sponsored by Botetourt County Schools, and competitive extracurricular activities in band, choir, FFA, FCCLA, DECA, and SkillsUSA. Registering for a parking permit is also considered a voluntary activity.

Each summer, the school division collaborates with the Botetourt County Health Department to plan free clinics to help families take care of required vaccinations for 7th and 12th-grade students. Detailed information about these clinics, including times and locations, consent forms, and letters for families, is available at: https://app.smore.com/n/xy8df

Pre-registration for the immunization clinics is required. Parents should call the Botetourt County Health Department at (540) 666-4275 to register.
