🎓🇺🇸 Celebrating Jamarion Montford ’26

Today, Ferrum College celebrated Jamarion Montford ’26 with a special commencement ceremony ahead of his upcoming overseas deployment in service to our country.
Montford graduated cm laude with a major in Psychology and a minor in Media and Communication. A member of the North Carolina Army National Guard, he will deploy as a Behavioral Health Technician with Charlie Company, 230th Brigade Support Battalion.

Family, teammates, faculty, staff, and the Panther community gathered to celebrate his academic achievements, athletic contributions, military service, and the character he has shown throughout his time at Ferrum.

🎓🇺🇸 A special moment for a special Panther.

Ferrum College will hold a special commencement ceremony for senior student-athlete Jamarion Montford on Thursday, October 8, at 11:30 a.m. in Vaughn Chapel.

A Psychology major with a minor in Media and Communication, Jamarion is a senior defensive back in football from Newport, North Carolina, and a member of the North Carolina Army National Guard. He will soon deploy overseas as a Behavioral Health Technician with Charlie Company, 230th Brigade Support Battalion.

Join us in celebrating Jamarion as he earns his degree and prepares for his next chapter of service to our country. 🎓🇺🇸

Faith of Our Fathers

Join us at the Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre to learn more about the history of Ferrum College as we celebrate a century in song during Homecoming Weekend.

One of the oldest buildings on campus, Schoolfield Hall was the original chapel, with a gymnasium and more, before it became home to the Sale Theatre, the Rex Stephenson Theatre, and the Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre.

In this uplifting performance originally written by R. Rex Stephenson for the centenary of Schoolfield Hall in 2025, we’ll take a fun trip through scenes from Ferrum College history and the building’s first 101 years.

🎻🌾 The Blue Ridge Folklife Festival & Arts & Crafts Show is just a little over three weeks away!

Ferrum College’s 53rd Blue Ridge Folklife Festival and Arts & Crafts Show returns on October 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering an enhanced festival experience for all ages.

This year, we’re especially excited to introduce new artisans, interactive experiences, an Agriculture Student Showcase, and expanded attractions and food options. In the new Arts & Crafts Show, more than 100 artisans will offer handmade jewelry, folk art, woodworking, pottery, textiles, and other unique creations.

Along with these new features, enjoy traditional demonstrations, handcrafted arts, family-friendly activities, music, storytelling, the Thunder in the Blue Ridge Car Show, horse pulls, c**n dog competitions, and other Appalachian traditions that make the festival a beloved annual event.

🌊 40 Years of Stewardship! 🌊

The Smith Mountain Lake Water Quality Monitoring Program (SMLWQMP), a collaboration between Ferrum College and the Smith Mountain Lake Association, celebrated four decades of studying and protecting Smith Mountain Lake with a special dinner at Ferrum College on September 11.

Alumni and community volunteers joined past and present student interns, faculty, college officials, and sponsors to celebrate the program’s incredible history and look toward its future. The evening included special recognitions and reflections on the people and partnerships that have helped make this important work possible for 40 years.

Here’s to 40 years of collaboration, stewardship, and a commitment to the future of Smith Mountain Lake! 💛🖤
