The Office of the Sheriff is proud to recognize Sergeant Morgan Moorman and K9 Shebang for their continued work assisting with investigations involving the internet exploitation of children.

Since completing her initial training in 2024, K9 Shebang has assisted investigators in locating hundreds of electronic devices during investigations involving child sexual abuse material and other crimes against children. Shebang is specially trained to detect the unique chemical compounds associated with electronic storage devices, allowing her to locate items that may be concealed or difficult to find during a traditional search.

Most recently, Sergeant Moorman and K9 Shebang were requested to assist an agency in another jurisdiction during the ex*****on of a search warrant involving an individual wanted in another state for crimes against children. Investigators located several electronic devices during their search. K9 Shebang was then deployed to conduct an additional sweep of the area and successfully alerted to another electronic device that had been concealed and was not readily visible.

This case is a great example of agencies working together and using specialized resources to strengthen an investigation and ensure a thorough search.

K9 Shebang is an incredible asset not only to Franklin County, but also to our law enforcement partners throughout the region who call upon her specialized skills.

We are proud of Sergeant Moorman and K9 Shebang and grateful for the important work they continue to do in protecting children and supporting investigations across jurisdictional lines.🐾
