Yesterday, our Medical Terminology GEAR UP students took learning beyond the classroom with a job-site visit to Dallas Fire-Rescue!

Students in Mr. Rivera and Mrs. Salas’ classes got an up-close look at careers in fire and emergency services while learning about the education, training, and skills needed to pursue these career paths.

We love giving our students opportunities to explore what’s possible beyond high school and connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world careers!

Today, GEAR UP students participated in a college and career visit to KD Conservatory College of Film & Dramatic Arts in Dallas.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore postsecondary programs and career pathways related to film, theater, acting, production, and the performing arts. Students toured the campus, learned about available programs and career opportunities, and gained a better understanding of the education and skills needed to pursue careers in the creative arts.

The experience supported GEAR UP’s goals of increasing college awareness and postsecondary preparation while connecting classroom interests to potential future careers.

Proud of these four Ferris High School Speech & Debate students: Sabino, Amy, Stephen, and Ramiro! 🐝🧡🖤

Leaving at 6:30 AM the morning after a Homecoming football game is not easy, but they showed up and got some great reps at the Princeton ISD tournament! Stephen and Ramiro competed in CX Debate, while Amy and Sabino competed in Congress.

Special congratulations to Sabino for earning the Presiding Officer gavel in Congress! 🔨

We are proud of these four and the way they represented Ferris High School!
