Today at Silverland Middle School, we had an amazing Career & Technical Education (CTE) opportunity for 5 students who expressed interest in Customer Service and Finance through Schoolinks.com!

These students had the chance to meet with Karolina Ciesielska, Branch Manager of United Federal Credit Union, along with Ron Bryant, Loan Officer/Banker, during lunch and Advisory for an engaging hands-on career exploration experience.

Our students came prepared with thoughtful questions, showed incredible engagement, and gained valuable insight into what it’s really like to work as a Branch Manager or Banker in the financial world. From customer service skills to managing finances and helping community members with loans and banking needs, this was an outstanding opportunity to connect classroom interests to real-world careers.

We are so proud of these students for taking initiative toward their futures, and we are incredibly grateful to United Federal Credit Union for investing their time into inspiring the next generation.

At Silverland, we are committed to creating meaningful experiences that help students explore careers, build skills, and prepare for successful futures!

The future is bright at Silverland Middle School!

What a great way to wrap up the year for the Fishing Club!

Today, our students had an amazing final fishing trip at Lahontan Reservoir. Several students were successful in catching fish, but more importantly, every student had the opportunity to learn, spend time outdoors, and enjoy a positive experience together.

One of the highlights of the day was hearing from Game Warden Markham, who spoke with students about what his career entails and what it is like working in wildlife law enforcement. It was an outstanding CTE experience and gave students a real-world look into a possible future career path.

A huge thank you to Ashlee Goeddel, Park Supervisor, for helping organize this opportunity for our students. We also appreciate Park Ranger Wassmund and Charles Richardson for being there to support students and answer questions throughout the trip.

This day would not have been possible without the incredible staff and parent volunteers who donated their time to help:

- Mr. Fellows helped students with poles and bait
- Mr. Gavin worked with students on casting techniques
- Mrs. Manderbach helped take pictures and untangle fishing poles
- Stacy Karr and our amazing cafeteria team prepared lunches so every student was fed and ready to fish
- Our amazing parent chaperones also helped tremendously by bringing extra fishing poles and working alongside students throughout the day

Most importantly, no students were hurt, everyone stayed safe, and students appeared to have a fantastic time — even those who didn’t catch a fish enjoyed being part of the experience.

It was a great day at Lahontan and a wonderful way to close out the final fishing trip of the school year!
