Please consider donating to his gofundme and/or providing a meal to the meal train we have set up for him. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to coming together as a community to support Spincer and his family.

Today we had the privilege of welcoming a special guest to the Meadow, Nest, and Casa Piccola: Debra Lawrence, President of the International Play Association - USA and Professor of Early Childhood Education at Delaware County Community College. Dr. Lawrence spent the morning observing in classrooms and providing information about a research study we have been chosen to participate in on non-traditional approaches to early childhood education.

Her research asks an important question: “How do non-traditional early childhood education approaches meet the rights of the child?”

Dr. Lawrence took note of the quality of interactions between teachers and children, the warm feel of our spaces, and the quality of materials the children have access to. It was such a pleasure to hear her speak about our "outstanding teaching staff."

I'm so proud that our practices will be used as exemplars of Reggio-Inspired approaches to early childhood education, and am looking forward to deepening our relationships with the educators of Building Blocks Preschool who will also be participating in the study. Grateful to Suzanne Gabli who recommended us!

Prior to the school year starting, each classroom had a play date (or two) so children and families could visit their classrooms and become familiar with the space, the teachers, and each other. Together we created pieces of an installation that spanned both buildings, with contributions and photos from each class. What a wonderful way to begin the year, and reaffirm that we are two buildings, one community.

looking forward to our new summer camp for elementary kids!

Something special is coming to Grixdale Farms this summer. 🌿
Casa Piccola is a Reggio-inspired summer camp for kids ages 6–12, a small, home-based program where children help shape the experience. Projects are built around what kids and staff are genuinely curious about, so no two sessions are quite alike.
Only 12 kids per week. Real projects. Real community.

📅 June 22 – August 10
💰 Starting at $200/week
💛 Financial assistance available for Grixdale Farms families

Registration is open now — share with a family who'd love this!

Years from now, a kid in Detroit will walk out of Casa Piccola surprised by what they made. They'll have spent a summer in the art studio, grown something in the garden, found their voice in a way they didn't expect. This Saturday, a generous donor is matching every gift made at our Little House, Big Dreams event. This means your contribution goes twice as far toward making that future real. 🌿✨ Join us May 16. 5:00-7:00 PM. 250 W Hollywood Detroit https://givebutter.com/spring-event-iyut0l
