Understanding Our Facility Projects & Measure E

Ferndale Unified has several facility projects underway, and we want our families to understand how we are working to improve your child’s school facilities.

One of our biggest priorities is replacing the earthquake-damaged main building at Ferndale Elementary School while also moving forward with Career and Technical Education improvements at Ferndale High School.

As a District, our priority is to secure as much funding as possible from Sacramento before asking our local community to contribute. Funding for the Elementary School project is separate from the funding needed for our CTE projects, and each source has specific restrictions on how it can be used.

The attached infographic explains where these funds come from and, specifically, how Measure E would be used.

We want our families to have clear information as we continue improving facilities for students across Ferndale Unified.

🎪💦 That’s a Wrap on Summer ELOP! ☀️🍧
What a wonderful way to end our summer together! We wrapped up Summer ELOP with an exciting Carnival Week, filled with learning, creativity, treats, and lots of fun!
Throughout the week, our students enjoyed carnival-inspired stories and brought the theme into their learning through colorful art projects, writing activities, and math.
For our grand finale, we celebrated with water bounce houses! Even though the weather brought us some chilly temperatures and cloudy skies, that didn’t stop our kids from jumping, splashing, playing, and having a great time!
A very special thank you to Ms. Maria and Gloria, who treated everyone to handmade tortillas and delicious tacos with homemade salsas for lunch! 🌮❤️ We also enjoyed some yummy shaved ice treats to top off the celebration. 🍧
Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making Summer ELOP so much fun. We loved learning, creating, playing, and making memories together this summer!

Another unforgettable week in our Summer ELOP Program!
This week was filled with creativity, culture, and memories our students will never forget!
A huge shoutout goes to Ms. Diana, who stepped out of her role as our school secretary and into the classroom to share something truly special. She taught our students about the history and cultural significance of piñatas before teaching them the entire process of making one from start to finish. Every child created their very own piñata by hand, then filled it with confetti and candy to celebrate their hard work. It became the students' most favorite activity, and seeing how proud they were of their creations was priceless!
Our students also enjoyed a fun movie day where we watched Moana together at Broadway Cinema. There was nothing better than seeing friends laughing, eating popcorn , and making memories during their summer movie date!
Our 3rd graders colored rice and helped make colorful sensory bins, while our 2nd graders used hammers and nails to carefully create their very own rain sticks, learning through hands-on exploration and creativity.
Weeks like these remind us what makes our Summer ELOP Program so special. We love giving students opportunities to explore new cultures, create meaningful projects, build friendships, and discover talents they never knew they had.
Thank you to our incredible staff for making learning exciting and unforgettable. We can't wait to see what adventures our last week of summer ELOP brings!

This week, our students had an out-of-this-world adventure during Space Week! We explored exciting space stories, created space-inspired art, and incorporated our theme into both our math and reading activities.

One of the biggest highlights of the week was when Mareya and Kandi taught our groups about the phases of the moon using Oreos! The students had so much fun creating each moon phase with their cookies while learning about the lunar cycle. Mareya and Kandi did a fantastic job leading the activity, and the groups absolutely loved this fun, yummy , hands-on learning experience!

We wrapped up an amazing sunny week with a trip to the zoo followed by a picnic at the park. It was the perfect way to celebrate a week full of learning, creativity, exploration, and fun. Thank you to everyone who helped make Space Week such a memorable experience! 💙🚀

Expanded Learning Summer Program – Culinary Challenge

Today in our Summer Expanded Learning Program, students took part in a fun and exciting Culinary Challenge! Each of our five classes collaborated to create a different dish, showcasing teamwork, creativity, and cooking skills.

After all the dishes were finished, our judges faced the tough task of tasting each one and rating it. Every class did an excellent job, and the judges were very impressed with the students’ effort, presentation, and tasty creations.

We are very proud of all our students for their hard work, teamwork, and enthusiasm. It was a fantastic day filled with learning, creativity, and fun!

Our students had a rootin' tootin' good time exploring all things western! Throughout the week, we read western-inspired stories, created western-themed art, and participated in reading and math activities with a western twist.

To wrap up the week, our students became Junior Chefs! They worked together to prepare and present their creations to our taste-testers. While our judges were tough critics, our students impressed everyone with their confidence, teamwork, presentation skills, and delicious food, earning a perfect score for both presentation and taste!

We are so proud of all they accomplished this week. Way to go, Junior Chefs! ⭐🤠
