Ferndale Varsity Eagles Defeats Renaissance Varsity Phoenix On Back Of Clutch Display From Mason Shaltis

Mason Shaltis drove in four runs on three hits to lead Ferndale Varsity Eagles past Renaissance Varsity Phoenix 7-3 on Tuesday at Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology. Shaltis doubled in the first inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the seventh inning, scoring one.

Ferndale Varsity Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Shaltis doubled, scoring three runs, and a steal of home scored one run.

Ferndale Varsity Eagles added one run in the second after Jaylin Dennard doubled to center field.

Dennard earned the win for Ferndale Varsity Eagles. The starter surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking four. Ethan Mcmullen took the loss for Renaissance Varsity Phoenix. The right-handed pitcher went three and one-third innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking three. Matthew Trumpy collected the save.

Ferndale Varsity Eagles piled up 12 hits in the game. Shaltis and Trumpy each collected three hits for Ferndale Varsity Eagles. Kenneth Berry and Taylor Williams each collected multiple hits for Ferndale Varsity Eagles. Berry stole five bases. Ferndale Varsity Eagles stole eight bases in the game.

District Playoffs start tomorrow! Your Eagles will be home vs Detroit Renaissance at 4:30pm. Come out and cheer on the fellas, it should be a beautiful afternoon for baseball.

Your Eagles have a few home games left. Today, Wednesday, vs Oak Park at 4:30. Thursday vs Cranbrook at 4:30, Saturday Double Header vs Detroit Southeastern starting at 11am.
Senior night will be Tuesdsy the 20th vs Clawson at 4:30pm.
Concessions will be open, come out and support the fellas.

Your Eagles are on a 4 game winning streak after a 15-0, 12-11 double header win today. They moved their record to 9-7.

Monday and Tuesday at Royal Oak, Thursday at home and a Double Header next Saturday vs rivals Hazel Park.

It’s going to be a beautiful afternoon for baseball. Your Eagles have a home twin bill vs Harper Woods, first game starting at 4pm. Come out and show your support. Pizza and hot dogs will be available at the concessions.
