Last year's novices have now been sorted into their houses! Go Wingspeare! Go Sapientia! Go Soringore! Go Falclere! This is one of the most special and awaited days of the Lindisfarne year. When a student enters Lindisfarne Hall, he spends his first year as a novice. During that year, his teachers and classmates watch to see which of the four house virtues he most possesses. Everyone gives input, and the following fall, at the start of the school year, if he's entering at least 4th grade, he gets to be sorted into the house that matches him. He walks forward, puts his name on a white candle, and lights it with the flame from the Christ candle (we cannot do any thing that is good without thee, Christ). The candle is set on the shelf and burns down during house exhortations. As the candle burns, it changes color- red, green, blue, or yellow, depending on what house the student has been sorted into. Finally, the candle is held high, the color is shown round, the student's name is read, and his house is announced. He gets to turn in his black novice tie for his house's color tie. Congratulations to our 21 new house members!
