MLL Math Tip: Build multiplication fluency before expecting memorization.

When students are learning multiplication facts, simply asking them to memorize a list of answers can feel overwhelming. One of my favorite ways to build confidence first is through skip counting and repeated patterns.

For this activity, we used a 7 bar and an 8 bar to repeatedly count by 7s and 8s while writing out the multiples. This gave us a visual reference and helped reinforce the pattern behind each fact family.

Then we used fun highlighters to find the multiples in order through a multiplication maze. 🖍️

This kind of practice helps students:
✨ Recognize number patterns
✨ Strengthen skip counting
✨ Build multiplication fact fluency
✨ Connect repeated addition to multiplication
✨ Practice facts in a way that feels more like a game

It’s an easy activity to use during homeschool lessons, math centers, small groups, or extra practice at home.

WE DID IT! 🏆 Miss Lauren’s Learners has been named a 2026 Best of Florida Regional Winner for Tutoring Centers!

When I started Miss Lauren’s Learners in 2022, I simply wanted to create a place where learning could feel more personal, where students could build confidence, and where families could have educators in their corner who cared just as deeply as they did.

What started with one teacher and a big idea has grown into an incredible team of educators serving students and families throughout our community. And now, we get to add Best of Florida Regional Winner to our story. 🥹

This recognition was determined in part by YOUR votes, which makes it even more meaningful. To every family who has trusted us with your child, every student who has worked hard with us, every educator who pours their heart into what they do, and everyone who took the time to vote, share our name, and support us... thank you.

The best part of this recognition isn’t the title. It’s knowing that the work happening every day is making a difference.

Sometimes math just needs to be seen differently.

The 9s facts are full of patterns, and once students notice them, multiplication starts to feel a whole lot less intimidating. 👀✨

We love showing learners the why behind the math, not just asking them to memorize an answer.

When patterns click, confidence grows. 💙
