The word “lice” is actually a blanket term for roughly 5000 different species of lice. Each one of these parasites are host specific. Animals and humans get their very own species of lice and they don’t transfer to each other.
Remember You get head lice from someone not somewhere and we promise that someone isn’t the family pet.
While we’ve shared this in the past it is one of favorite “lice” facts that kids really enjoy learning.
(Whale lice aren’t actual lice, they’re a type of shrimp)
