Well it’s been a tough year. We’ve lost two varsity wrestlers to injuries for the season and been plagued with sickness. In the end it came down to seven. Seven warriors who represented the best of Otter wrestling. Of the seven who wrestled, six made the podium. Jacob Fronning and Leo Ashley won 6th, Wyatt Willson and Roric Hage won 5th, Levi Budke won 3rd, and Nolan Field finished second to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Jack Brunn didn’t place, but wrestled hard and demonstrated all heart in the face of adversity. Congratulations to all of you!

2026 MNGWL Section 8 qualifier. In a program riddled with injury, we were still able to gather up 8 or our 7-9th grade wrestlers to compete. They went against 17 different schools covering all 3 classes. Of the eight we sent, 5 placed and one made the podium. Landon Thunselle placed 7th at 100 lbs. he started with a loss against a teammate who relocated to DGF by fall. In the 7th place match he met back up and proceeded to win by major decision 18-8. At 107 Wyatt Willson wrestled tough today and lost in the semi final match. He turned around an got to the 3rd place match. Unfortunately he did not get the win and finished in fourth place with a 4-7 loss. However he pushed the kid to the breaking point only having 4 seconds left of injury time and ended up chasing his opponent as he backed away the entire third period. Adrian Longoria wrestled tough on the day at 121 as well as Lucas Winkler at 160, both earning 7th place finishes. Jackson Schneeberger at 89, George Jonez at 94, Andrew Mashek at 127, and Caden White at 114 all wrestled today as well, but unfortunately weren’t able to get a win. As coaches, we are all proud of the effort put forth today by all of our wrestlers!
