At Minnesota State Community and Technical College, you can choose from four unique campus experiences, flexible scheduling options and an array of student life activities including athletics and fine arts. We offer more than 70 career and technical programs at our four campuses located in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena. At M State, students benefit from extensive online options, quality instruction from highly credentialed instructors and personalized small class sizes. By partnering with our communities, the college also provides Custom Training Services and other responsive training programs.

M State's Criminal Justice Association recently visited the Red River Valley SWAT building in Fargo to learn more about the team's work and the training it takes to become a SWAT member.

Students got an inside look at the equipment officers use, when the team is called into action and the importance of teamwork and de-escalation in working to resolve situations while avoiding the use of force whenever possible.

A big thank you to the Red River Valley SWAT team for welcoming our students, sharing your expertise and giving them this valuable learning opportunity. We wish you continued safety in all that you do!

M State nursing students recently partnered with the Wadena Lions Club for a hearing screening, gaining hands-on experience while connecting with members of the local community.

Opportunities like this give our nursing students the chance to put their skills into practice, build connections and serve the communities they'll one day care for.

M State is hiring a Campus Security Officer for our Fergus Falls campus.

In this role, you'll help support a safe, welcoming campus environment by:
-Patrolling campus buildings and grounds
-Responding to safety and emergency situations
-Enforcing campus parking and safety regulations
-Providing safety escorts and jump starts
-Monitoring for unauthorized or suspicious activity
-Supporting students, employees and visitors

This is a full-time seasonal position, scheduled for 40 hours per week from Mid-August through Mid-May, with an evening/overnight schedule.

It was a busy week for M State Moorhead's 4th-semester ADN students!💉💙

Students put their nursing skills into action during their first simulation of the semester, caring for a pediatric patient experiencing active seizures related to bacterial meningitis.

They also organized a campus Health Fair covering important topics including digital wellness, depression, melanoma, alcohol awareness, seasonal affective disorder and more!

These experiences showcase the many roles of a registered nurse, from providing safe, high-quality patient care to educating patients and communities and empowering people to make informed decisions about their health.

Way to go, future RNs! 💙

Some difficult news to share today.

After years of careful evaluation and exploring multiple options, M State and the Minnesota State system of colleges and universities are moving forward with plans to close the M State Detroit Lakes campus. The facility is large, aging, and no longer being used at a level that aligns with its operating costs.

We know this news will bring a range of emotions for the many students, employees, alumni and community members who care deeply about the campus and its role in Detroit Lakes.

While our presence in Detroit Lakes may look different in the future, we remain committed to serving Detroit Lakes area students, employers and communities.

M State remains financially strong, and this decision is part of a proactive effort to align facilities with enrollment while continuing to focus resources on academic programs. The campus is not closing immediately; we expect it to remain open until at least summer 2028. The programs currently offered at the campus will continue at M State, with minimal disruption to students.
