As people have pitched in throughout the week, and especially today at our All-School Work Day, it’s been wonderful to see our Heritage community serving together! More than 80 parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, staff, students, siblings, and friends have given their time and skills to help prepare our building and grounds for the year ahead.

Oh, how grateful we are for a community that serves with such joy and purpose!

We are excited to welcome back Margaret Fitzsimmons to the Heritage faculty! As the parent of a current senior, she is a familiar face, and we are grateful to have her heart for students and love for our school back on campus this year.

Please find her bio below, and join us in giving her a warm welcome back!

Margaret Fitzsimmons brings 20 years of diverse education experience to the Heritage middle school team this academic year. Her background includes teaching English as a second language in Taiwan and remotely to children in China, as well as teaching general studies at a juvenile delinquent facility with teenaged boys. Additionally, she has taught adults online, taught religious education at her church, and homeschooled her own children. An involved member of the Heritage community for six years, Margaret holds bachelor’s degrees in both Education and History from Saint Louis University. Outside the classroom, she enjoys crafting, gardening, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

We are pleased to welcome Sean Heskett to the Heritage faculty!

As the parent of a Heritage alumnus, an assistant coach for our boys' basketball team, and someone who is always willing to lend a hand around campus, Sean has faithfully invested in our school community for years. We are excited to have him bring his experience and perspective into the classroom as he teaches our High School Introduction to Business course.

Sean Heskett worked in the life safety and fire protection industry for 30 years. He has also been a longtime small group leader in both junior high and senior high ministries at his church. In his free time, he enjoys all things outdoors, including hunting, hiking, and fly fishing. The Heskett Family has been part of the Heritage Christian Academy family for the last six years. Three of their five children have attended Heritage, so it holds a special place in their hearts. He has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Please join us in welcoming Pam Watson back to the Heritage faculty! After previously serving our community as a psychology teacher for seven years and Athletic Director for five years, we are excited to welcome Pam back to the classroom to teach psychology, and we are grateful for her experience and enthusiasm for the subject.

Pam Watson came to Heritage in 2019 after completing a career at Hazelwood West High School teaching psychology. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Education, with minors in Counseling and Religious Studies from Southwest Baptist University. Her master’s studies include a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri and an MDiv equivalency and doctoral work from Covenant Seminary. She delights in helping students understand the way they and others are uniquely created and designed for God’s purposes, gifting, and calling within strengths endowed by God, while adhering to a biblical worldview when considering human development and mental processes. Pam has enjoyed being involved in her church in a variety of ministry areas, including missions, discipleship, and mentoring. She enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Please join us in welcoming a familiar face to a new role at Heritage! Already a valued member of our Heritage family as a current parent and assistant volleyball coach, Ginel Bartleson is joining our faculty as our strength & conditioning teacher while also serving as Head Coach of our middle school and jv volleyball teams. We're excited for the leadership and encouragement she'll bring to our students both in the classroom and on the court.

Coach Bartleson grew up in the Central Valley of California. From an early age sports became one of the main avenues that taught her about working hard, perseverance, teamwork and determination. After high school she enlisted in the US Air Force. During that time she learned that physical and mental strength go hand in hand. Over the years she has coached volleyball on many different levels through school and club programs, ranging from beginners at 8 years old to experienced 18-year-olds. She believes taking the time to build strength and condition your body and mind is a vital part of every sport. In her free time she enjoys working outside, spending time with her family, visiting her children and grandchildren, meeting friends for coffee and deep discussions.

We are excited to announce that Mrs. Stephanie Valentine will join us this fall to fill a new role as Middle School Teacher and Academic Coach. In this role she will lead two middle school classes and work closely with students to help them build strong organizational habits, develop effective learning strategies, and grow in confidence as they prepare for the transition to high school. In addition, Mrs. Valentine will spend mornings in our front office providing administrative support and leadership of academic/testing systems, operations, and communications.

Stephanie Valentine grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia, and moved to St. Louis in 2024, where she met her husband at a local coffee shop. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biblical and Theological Studies with a minor in Church History from Covenant College and completed graduate certificates in Greek, Applied Theology, and Biblical & Theological Studies at Covenant Theological Seminary. Before joining our school, she served in youth ministry and church administration. She is passionate about helping students know God's Word, love Jesus, and grow in their faith. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, starting impromptu dance parties, and finding any excuse to wear pink.

Our Co-Ed Marksmanship Team is competing this week at the Civilian Marksmanship Program National Tournament.

Out of approximately 900 marksmanship athletes from across the country, only the top 200 earn the opportunity to compete at Nationals. Qualifying for this event is a tremendous accomplishment and reflects the dedication and hard work of these student-athletes and coaches!

Yesterday was dedicated to equipment checks and final preparations, and after day 1 of competition, Heritage is currently 20th overall and 2nd in their division.

We are proud of our Heritage Hawkeyes!
