Meet MVR-III alum Brent Batcheller, Class of 1993. 🎓

Brent is an educator at Rockwood Summit High School, where he teaches social studies. He is most proud of achieving National Board Certification in Teaching and earning the President's Council Award for Sports, Nutrition and Fitness.

Brent says his time at MVR-III was shaped by caring staff who worked to build lifelong relationships and the numerous extracurricular programs that helped prepare students for life beyond high school. Whether he was participating in choir or competing as a three-sport athlete, one program in particular helped inspire his career in education. Through Hi-Step, Brent and other students visited elementary schools to work with younger students on making healthy choices.

His advice for current students: Get involved, stay involved, take risks, and you'll find a new passion.

Day 4: What to do when you feel like it’s too late to start?

As someone who started with us as a junior, Madde Chonech found herself in a unique situation. Even after getting such a late start, she found herself nearly qualifying for the State Tournament. She gave us a few words of wisdom:

-Comparison is the thief of joy
-Do it when you want to and even when you don’t
-Enjoy the journey

We want to thank every alum who stopped by and said hi, or helped; every current wrestler who showed up to wrestle, and even stayed after to help with the Littles; and lastly, the staff, who makes this thing go.

What a wonderful summer so far!

Day 3: How do you Handle Pressure?

State Placer Donovan Brown spoke to the team about staying in the moment, and the power of positive self talk. In times of stress, logic must rule over emotion. Great insight.
