Lake Forest Odyssey of the Mind Welcome to the Lake Forest Odyssey of the Mind page! They work in teams so they learn cooperation and respect for the ideas of others.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Teams apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting heir own interpretation of literary classics. They evaluate ideas and make decisions on their own, gaining greater self-confidence and

increased self-esteem along the way. They work within a budget, so they learn to manage their money. They see that there is often more than one way to solve a problem, and that sometimes the process is more important than the end result. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the United States and around the world participate in this program.

Odyssey of the Mind World Finals is a whirlwind of creativity, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. It’s where students from around the world come together, turning strangers into lifelong friends through shared experiences, laughter, and endless pin trading. Teams spend months preparing for their moment in the spotlight—an 8-minute performance where imagination takes center stage and every second counts.

Along the way, there are surprises, challenges, and plenty of problem-solving, both planned and spontaneous. Props get built, repaired, transported, and sometimes spectacularly destroyed in the name of competition. Between performances, opening ceremonies, and meeting people from different countries and cultures, competitors discover that World Finals is about much more than a score.

It’s a celebration of creativity, quick thinking, friendship, and the courage to try something new—proving that the real reward isn’t just competing on the world stage, but the memories made along the way.

We’d love to have your students join us next year!!! Be on the lookout for more information at the beginning of the school year!

Team Hansen finished up Spontaneous with a show for the crowd!! They came out happy and laughing and two thumbs up!! Next up, Team Gonet/Cole who performs their long term about 3:40ish.

Sadly, our two seniors will be leaving after watching the other team so they can fly home for high school graduation tomorrow evening!

We’re so proud of them and all of these kiddos! They’re doing amazing things!
