ALL SLVUSD SCHOOLS OPEN TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26th
Good Afternoon SLV families. Good news, all evacuation orders have been lifted and the main roadways have been cleared.
We will be welcoming all of our students back to school tomorrow, Tuesday, October 26th. Please note that ALL schools in SLVUSD will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, October 26th.
The rains were wonderful and we now welcome some sunshine. We hope to see all of you tomorrow!

ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED FOR MONDAY, OCTOBER 25th
This is an important message from the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District. The District has just been contacted by our local Fire Department requesting us to close schools for Monday, October 25th. This is due to hazardous road conditions and will allow access for their emergency vehicles to begin the clearing and clean-up process following this storm.
In addition, Red Cross is using several buildings at the San Lorenzo Valley tri-campus as an evacuation center for those evacuated in the event of debris flows. Therefore, all SLVUSD Schools will be CLOSED for Monday, October 25th.

SLVHS: Senior Spotlight:
Nathan Balducci
What have you been involved with while in high school? What do you do in your free time? What is your favorite high school memory?
I have been in band for my entire high school career, and have been on varsity tennis, varsity water polo, and varsity volleyball. In my free time, I like to make and play music, as well as draw and paint. My favorite high school memory would probably be the time the water polo team went undefeated.

What are your plans after graduation? If college is your plan, where are you thinking about/or going to college and what are you planning on majoring in? If you are going to be working, where? What are your post-high school goals?
After I graduate, I am planning on going to college at West Valley College, and then transferring to a 4 year. I will be majoring in Music and Computer Engineering. I will be working part-time while handling college, but my biggest goal would probably be to have my music in a movie and/or video game.

Griffin Hardisty
What have you been involved with while in high school? What do you do in your free time? What is your favorite high school memory?
I have been involved in concert band for all four years of high school, and I have participated in cross country and track for three and four years, respectively. In my free time, I like to play video games, draw for fun, and play music for fun as well. I mostly just like to keep busy. My favorite high school memory is probably going night swimming in the ocean at a track beach bonfire meetup at some point during the running season. I also really cherished being on the Homecoming court with so many of my wonderful peers this year, and it was such an honor; it is definitely something I will never forget.

What are your plans after graduation? If college is your plan, where are you thinking about/or going to college and what are you planning on majoring in? If you are going to be working, where? What are your post-high school goals?
My plan is to go to Cabrillo and then transfer to a four-year, probably in California. I plan on majoring in graphic design, with a potential minor in ecology. I am going to work at Papa Murphy's in Scott's Valley starting very soon, and I plan on continuing to work there through the summer and probably as long as I stay in the valley for college. My goal is to gain a substantial understanding of digital arts in order to pursue a potential career at a design firm.

Madisyn Hein
What have you been involved with while in high school? What do you do in your free time? What is your favorite high school memory?
I've done two years of AP art and most of the science classes offered. I usually draw or skate when I'm not sleeping. My favorite school memory is possibly winning the title of "complainer in chief" from Coulson and Jay.

What are your plans after graduation? If college is your plan, where are you thinking about/or going to college and what are you planning on majoring in? If you are going to be working, where? What are your post-high school goals?
I will be going to Cabrillo to figure out my major before transferring. I'm debating between law and psychology.

Skyler Shipp

What have you been involved with while in high school? What do you do in your free time? What is your favorite high school memory?
I have played Clarinet and sometimes Alto Saxophone in the SLVHS band for 4 years. During the last 2 years, I have led and arranged music for small ensembles within the band. I also have written news articles for the school newspaper over the last year which has been a good experience and has made me more interested in politics and journalism. In my free time, I like to practice music, hike, or hang out with friends. My favorite high school memory is going to the MET in New York with the school band during our New York trip. Another great memory is playing Donald's arrangement of "Selections from Finally Rich: Arranged for Dixieland Jazz Band"

What are your plans after graduation? If college is your plan, where are you thinking about/or going to college and what are you planning on majoring in? If you are going to be working,
I will be attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and I will most likely be majoring in Music Education. My plan after college is to teach music at a High School and use my summers off to travel.

Jess Luckow

What have you been involved with while in high school? What do you do in your free time? What is your favorite high school memory?
I was in Art Awareness, Ceramics, Graphic Design in ninth to tenth grade, and I took one year of French in my freshman and sophomore year. I draw, pet my cat Jazz, listen to music, sing, and read in my free time. When I did Cougar Cafe, that was quite the experience for me, that’s my favorite high school memory.

What are your plans after graduation? If college is your plan, where are you thinking about/or going to college and what are you planning on majoring in? If you are going to be working,
I think I’d get a job as a barista at Peet’s Coffee and Tea in Downtown Santa Cruz. I’ll be in the post senior program at Cabrillo for three years. I want to major in Music Production. I would attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Audrey Parmenter
What have you been involved with while in high school? What do you do in your free time? What is your favorite high school memory?
During high school, I have played volleyball, basketball, and track. I have been part of ASB, Interact Club, and the Relay for Life team. The class lipsyncs, powderpuff, spikeball, sports games, and all of the spirit days have made some of the best memories at school. One of my favorite moments was our AMAZING junior year lipsync :)

What are your plans after graduation? If college is your plan, where are you thinking about/or going to college and what are you planning on majoring in? If you are going to be working, where? What are your post-high school goals?
I will be going to Cabrillo in the fall as part of the honors program. While at Cabrillo, I will continue working at Nolands on the Wharf.
