The WheresTheBus app gives families real-time information about their student’s bus and helps take the wondering out of busy mornings and afternoons.

💙🩵🤍 Welcome back to Spartan Country! 🤍🩵💙

The Lake Forest School District is so excited to welcome our students and staff back for the 2026–2027 school year!

The start of a new school year can bring a few nerves, especially when students are meeting new teachers, learning new routines, and adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings. However, it is also a fresh start filled with exciting opportunities, new friendships, and wonderful memories waiting to be made. In Lake Forest, no student has to face those new experiences alone!

That welcoming spirit was felt throughout our schools this morning. Superintendent Dr. Steven Lucas began his day by greeting students at W.T. Chipman Middle School before visiting our new Compass Program, where he caught up with both old and new friends. He then greeted students as their buses arrived at South Elementary School and finished the morning welcoming our littlest learners at DECC, where he was proudly rather than !

A successful first day takes the entire Spartan Family. We are grateful for our bus drivers who safely transported our students, our teachers and staff who welcomed them with warmth and enthusiasm, our Child Nutrition Services team members who kept everyone fueled, our Buildings & Grounds teams who prepared clean and welcoming buildings, and our administrators who helped everything run smoothly.

To our parents, guardians, and families, thank you for trusting us with your children and for partnering with us to help them begin the year feeling confident, supported, and ready to learn. We know the first day can bring big emotions for families, too!

We are so thankful to begin another year together in Lake Forest. Let’s make this the best school year yet!
