The Treasurer of the NWA Student Enterprise Vending Machine Program, Izzy, is hard at work keeping tabs on the sales from the first few days of business!

Did you know our students actually run the business AND share in the profits?

From tracking sales and expenses to managing inventory, budgeting, and making decisions about what to stock, our students are learning entrepreneurship through real-world experience.

At Next Wave, we believe some of the best lessons happen when students get the chance to learn by doing.

🔧 WE’RE HIRING: PART-TIME SMALL ENGINE INSTRUCTOR! 🛠️

We are launching a new Small Engine Program this Fall, and we’re looking for someone who loves working with their hands and wants to pass those skills on to the next generation.

Our students will gain real-world, hands-on experience learning how engines work, how to troubleshoot problems, and how to safely maintain and repair equipment.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has experience with small engines, lawn equipment, ATVs, motorcycles, automotive repair, etc.
- Enjoys teaching and mentoring young people
- Believes students learn best by doing
- Can create a safe, engaging, hands-on learning environment
- Is available part-time in Fellsmere

Teaching experience is a plus, but real-world experience matters to us!

This is a great opportunity for a retired mechanic, technician, tradesperson, or skilled hobbyist who wants to share their knowledge and make an impact.

Day 1 is in the books!! Smiling faces, hard work, lots of energy, and a whole lot of excitement for what’s ahead!

There’s something special about the first day back, the classrooms are full, friendships are reconnecting, new ones are forming, and our students are ready to grow.

We’re excited for everything the 2026–27 school year has in store for our NWA family!

Sometimes the best way to teach entrepreneurship is to stop talking about it and start doing it.

At the end of last school year, several of our students presented Shark Tank-style business pitches. A couple of students pitched the idea of a vending machine business.

So… we bought a vending machine.

This year, those students won’t just be earning a grade, they’ll be managing a real business.

They’ll be responsible for inventory, pricing, marketing, customer service, budgeting, and tracking profits and losses.

At Next Wave Academy, we believe learning should extend far beyond the classroom. When our students have great ideas, we do everything we can to give them the opportunity to bring those ideas to life.

We can’t wait to see where this venture takes them!

A huge thank you to Three D's Tractor Service for all of the hard work they’ve been putting in at Next Wave Academy!

As we get ready to open our new portable classrooms next week, Devin and the team have been working hard to make sure everything is ready for our students.
It takes partners who truly care to help turn a vision into reality, and we’re incredibly grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and willingness to jump in wherever needed!

Tonight, we celebrate the incredible Class of 2026 at our 8th Grade Graduation & Schoolwide Awards Ceremony! 🎓

This evening is about honoring the hard work, growth, creativity, leadership, and perseverance of our students throughout the school year. From Honor Roll recognition and academic achievement awards to character awards, superlatives, and special recognitions, we are excited to celebrate the students who make Next Wave Academy so special.

To our 8th graders - thank you for helping shape the culture and spirit of our school. We are proud of who you are becoming and excited to watch you take the next step forward.

To our families, staff, and supporters, thank you for believing in our vision and being part of this journey with us.

Just two years ago, Ian Welsch and Monica Reyes-Welsch started Next Wave Academy with a vision to create something different for young people and families.

Now, as NWA finishes its second year and prepares to expand, the mission remains the same: building a learning environment where students are truly seen, challenged, supported, and inspired.

Next Wave Academy is honored to continue enrolling families who want to actively take part in their child’s educational pathway. Families who value creativity, life skills, entrepreneurship, strong relationships, and real-world learning alongside academics.
