Unbinding Prometheus

Unbinding Prometheus Unbinding Prometheus is an arts and humanities project bringing scholars together for innovative interdisciplinary research & public educational programs.

On August 12, 2014 we began our first ongoing program, The Penn Shelley Seminar Series. Since then, more than one hundred visiting scholars as well as Penn faculty have joined the Penn Shelley Seminar Group and members of the general public for discussion about, and close readings of the poetry of Percy Shelley. TUPP now runs a number of ongoing, long-term seminar series on a variety of topics, br

inging together faculty, artists and professionals from around the world. Ongoing and immediately upcoming seminars include those on Andy Warhol, Walt Whitman, All aspects of the year 1968, Modernist Poetry in English, The Beats & The Black Arts Movement, The Relationship of Canadian and Australian Politics and Cultural Production in the 20th century, Contemporary Jewish and Islamic Thought, Progressive Pedagogy in the College Classroom, and Arts Integration in Public Schools. "The Social Network--Pound, Williams, H.D. & Moore" looks at the intertwined lives and careers of four major Modernists, all of whom enjoyed early close friendships with each other here in Philadelphia, and specifically at UPenn. https://www.facebook.com/groups/686710441470571/

Unbinding Prometheus aims to practice an open, free, inclusive, progressive pedagogy which fosters collaboration and partnership between individuals, groups, and institutions interested in re-envisioning the relationship between learning and the arts in the 21st Century. We believe that working together, thinking together, and imagining together is the best way to produce radical and humane solutions to the serious threats that the arts and scholarship face today. The Unbinding Prometheus Project, a not-for-profit arts and humanities educational organization based in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area is looking for a social media and direct marketing associate to work closely with key members of our team during our upcoming fund-raising drive, and perhaps beyond. If you enjoy communicating with people both online and in person, and have a love of education--especially literature--contact us so we can set up an appointment. Must be over 18 year of age, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, have a clean, valid driver’s licence, and be available to work 20 hours a week each week in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area, but can work up to 40 hours if desired. The candidate should be comfortable with social media promotion for a education not-for-profit, and be willing to interact with members of the local business community who are willing to donate to and sponsor specific parts of our project. Pay will be competitive with other small to medium scale not-for-profit fundraising, social media and direct marketing positions. We've continued filming and editing more of our discussions of each individual canto of Walt Whitman's Song of Myself. Today we have begun releasing our video set for Canto 19. A week from today, we'll be releasing TUPP's Singing Myself Together project's new videos on Song of Myself, Canto 49. About two weeks later we'll have a new collaborative, communal response video which will respond to that video set. Call and response. A whole community discussing Whitman's poetry together. We are really looking forward to sharing this with you---and involving many of you with the project!
