Camp Blount
The Camp Blount Historic Site represents the last remaining acreage of the mustering location of Ten
September of 1813 found the United States embroiled in a desperate war with Great Britain. In the midst of the war, a civil war erupted between factions of the Creek Indian Nation. On August 30, 1813 Red Stick Creeks attacked friendly Creeks and American militia at Fort Mims in Alabama. This attack resulted in the massacre of the soldiers and families within the fort. Aong this route you'll visit the Crockett Birthplace Monument at Limestone Presbyterian Church, then head to Morristown to see the Crockett Tavern Museum, a rebuild of his father’s tavern. In Lawrenceburg, wander David Crockett State Park where he once ran a mill and distillery. Fayetteville’s Camp Blount marks where he joined the militia. In Rutherford, check out the Davy Crockett Cabin & Museum, built from his last home. Big Cypress Tree State Park and Reelfoot Lake let you walk his old bear-hunting grounds.
