These 6 gents learned the basics of topwater lures with what to use and how to use them in our Topwater Bass Basics workshop at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center 🤩🎣!

Everyone had at least one bite, but you know as well as we do, when it your first Topwater strike, you can’t help but to set the hook prematurely 😅.
Lessons were learned and we are confident that they will land their first one next time 🥳!

Congrats to Will for landing his first bass on topwater 👏!

The fishing was so good for today's Scouting Fishing Merit Badge workshop, and the scouts did an amazing job learning how to clean and prepare fish to eat. From trepidation to confidence, they tackled every challenge with bravery! We hope all the skills they learned today - from first aid to knot tying to mastering fishing regulations will serve them well in the future. Keep fishing scouts!

🎣 Scouting Fishing Merit Badge Camp at the Pechmann Center

Today was all about learning by doing as Scouts joined us at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center for our Fishing Merit Badge Camp.

Throughout the day, Scouts worked alongside staff and volunteer instructors to build practical fishing skills—from tackle and fish handling to time on the water putting those skills into practice. There were plenty of fish caught, new skills learned, and proud moments along the way.

Programs like this are about more than completing merit badge requirements. They give young people the confidence and experience they need to keep fishing long after the class is over—and hopefully introduce them to a lifelong connection with the outdoors.

A big thank-you to our volunteer instructors and staff for sharing their time, patience, and knowledge, and congratulations to all of today’s Scouts for a great day on the water!

Learn it. Practice it. Take it fishing.

👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 we had some mad scientists at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center attending our DIY Fishing: Soft Plastics Lure Making Workshop!

We let participants imaginations run wild to let them create some one of a kind soft plastic lures. 🪱 🦐 🐸 🦞

The best part about this class is that participants learned how easy it was to make these baits, they saved some money on new baits that were free, and they will be able to catch fish with something that they created! 🥳🎣
